It is always good to go back and revisit old work for inspiration and improvement. This original work was made 3 years ago and I finally took the jump to use the skills I have learn to make it better.
This aquatint etching was done at a coffee shop during my undergraduate years in college when I was first learning printmaking. I was never satisfied with it, but I didnt know what I wanted to do with. The ambiance of the place was one that was so inviting and cozy. This called for experimentation.
Since I don’t have access to the amazing amenities of a printmaking studio, I found a different way to experiment. That is digital painting. I created two different versions, one for night, the other day. Trying to keep the energy was the most difficult aspect. Going from line to color and shapes was frustrating and exciting. Seeing how much I had improved was nice to see and helps push me further in my artistic journey using traditional or digital media.
