Generative Art

I have been gaining a stronger interest in digital media the past few months and I stumbled upon generative art. According to Philip Galanter, generative art is, “Any art practice where the artist uses a system , such as a set of natural language rules a computer program, a machine, or other  procedural invention, which is then set into motion with some degree of autonomy to or resulting in a complex work of art. ”

I decided to try my hand in generative in art by using NodeBox which is a real-time graphics editor. I chose NodeBox because I am familiar with the Python language and will write my own nodes in the future. Generative art has given me a new perspective about coding and a fun new way to work on my coding ability. Here is a simple animation I created using Nodebox from reading tutorials and putting my own spin on things, literally and figuratively.
